JOB SUMMARY:  The Production Supervisor is responsible for performance of the manufacturing operations – ensuring timely completion of jobs/orders on schedule safely.  Oversees optimized work-in-process and manages workforce through cross-training and lean methods to streamline efficiency of production with emphasis on quality, customer service and improving direct labor costs. The Production Supervisor works in a team environment, leading and mentoring people with different personalities, cultures and varying abilities and collaborating with peers throughout the organization. 


Essential Functions:

§ Accountable for communication, interviewing and hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, leveraging team and individual strengths, managing performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and solving problems to ensure results.

§ Review ERP data/reports and metrics to plan and schedule production resources and develop countermeasures as needed.

§ Tracks operator’s productivity for measured efficiency and improvement.

§ Coordinates and prioritized manufacturing engineering resources to develop methods, processes and tooling for efficient production and reduced variability (development of standard work).

§ Analyzes labor variances and prepares and implements labor cost reduction strategies.

§ Conducts periodic reviews for production employees.

§ Prepares and conducts written annual reviews for production employees.

§ Conducts and maintains training for all production employees.

§ Responsible to support and implement Ran-Tech’s 6S (5S Safety) Program.

§ Manages the Safety Program and maintains safety policy documentation to be current and accurate.

§ Follows all policies, ergonomic standards and safety requirements in accordance with Ran-Tech Safety policies and guidelines.

§ Predictable and reliable attendance.

§ Ability to adhere to deadlines and produce quality work.

§ Ability to behave respectfully and work collaboratively with co-workers, customers, and vendors.

§ Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

§ Must have prior manufacturing experience, preferably in both sheet-metal/machining in aerospace.

§ An individual must have strong computer skills, provide strong leadership, and be organized.

§ Possess a clear understanding of fundamentals of lean manufacturing, pull and visual control systems.

§ Clear understanding of ISO/AS quality standards and use of tools and data for problem solving, decision making and continuous improvement.

§ Strong customer service skills are required, has the ability to be flexible, reliable, consistent and fair.

§ Knowledge of specifications, tools and equipment used throughout the shop with a general understanding of engineering drawings, jobs/work orders and purchase orders.

§ Experience with JobBOSS ERP or similar production management system.

§ Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.

§ Ability to work independently and as a team to positively and comfortably handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment with focused attention to detail.

§ Must be comfortable developing and conducting group presentations to employees and management.

Education and/or Experience: A minimum of 7 years of work experience in manufacturing with a preference of 3 years in a lead or supervisory capacity in a sheet-metal/machining company (aerospace industry a plus). A four (4) year degree is preferred but not mandatory. Consideration will be given for years of experience in lieu of college level education. Experience should include experience with implementing 6S (5S Safety) and lean manufacturing practices with Greenbelt certification desirable.


Language Skills: Ability to read, write and speak English.


Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as the ability to convert units of measures. Ability to work with GD&T methodology and ability to extrapolate various measurements.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 


Computer Skills: Working knowledge of MS Excel, and Word in an updated Windows environment; General understanding of enterprise software (ERP/MRP systems).
