Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Custom Mold Builder to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating and maintaining custom molds used in various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, fiberglass reinforcement, and foam production. Your expertise will directly contribute to the creation of precise, durable molds that meet rigorous industry standards and client specifications.
Responsibilities
- Build new molds and repair existing molds using a variety of materials, tools and techniques.
- Plan and create patterns for projects by duplicating existing molds or working from a master pattern.
- Verify pattern accuracy by taking precise measurements and confirming specifications.
- Perform quality checks and inspections on molds to ensure they meet production standards.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with basic hand tools and shop equipment, including table saws, band saws, drill presses, milling machines, lathes, sanders, calipers, and scales.
- Comfortable using computers and basic software for documentation and measurements.
- Strong attention to detail and patience. Mold building is a precision-driven process.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and communicate effectively with team members across departments.
- Carpentry experience is helpful, including understanding materials, fabrication methods, and blueprint interpretation.
- Strong math and reading skills to support accurate measurements and material mixing.
