Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend apprenticeship class daily and on-time.
- Show steady progress in learning to safely maneuver the tractor-trailer through range skills and on the road training.
- Follow all training requirements as outlined in the relevant contracts and training agreements.
- Maintain cleanliness of company-owned equipment.
- Use excellent communication with trainer and colleagues as would be expected as a regional driver.
- Understand and follow all Department of Transportation rules and regulations as well as company policy.
- Successfully learn and memorize how to complete proper pre and post trip inspections on all equipment per state testing and company requirements.
- Maintain a positive attitude with customers and RMI employees.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to pass DOT drug and alcohol tests, including random testing.
- Must meet driver requirements as outlined in company policy.
- Must have a current and valid medical certificate as noted on their motor vehicle report (MVR).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Alert, focused and detail-oriented.
- An innate sense of direction.
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.
- High level of composure and good stress management.
- Verifiable work history and references.
Education and Experience:
- Current Class A CDL learning permit
- Must live within 60 minutes of terminal.
- Must demonstrate job dependability through job time of 1 years at current company.
Job Location:
This position will travel regionally between customer locations throughout the Midwest and Northeast and our Terminal in Mattawan, MI and Warehouse in Paw Paw, MI.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods of time. This role also requires the ability to frequently get in and out of tractors, trailers, and reefers by lifting one’s body into the tractor using three points of contact. This position is often physical in nature requiring the employee to crank trailer dollies using various levels of force, occasionally lift product, kneel and crawl to properly inspect the tractor and trailer, and extend and twist to connect air lines.
