What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Services Mitigation Technician position at Rainbow Restoration?
EMERGENCY SERVICES TECHNICIAN
Full-Time | In-Person | Field-Based | Paid Training & Certifications
Do you do the job right the first time — or do you do it until someone catches the mistake?
We are building a team of technicians who take the field seriously. People who follow the plan, document what they do, protect the equipment, and leave every jobsite better than they found it. People who are proud of the work — not just present for the shift.
If that sounds like you, keep reading. Experience in restoration is not required. The right attitude is.
WHO WE ARE
Rainbow Restoration of Chesapeake is a growing emergency services and restoration company serving Hampton Roads. We are part of the Neighborly family of home services brands — national systems, local accountability.
We are being a team that is interested in our continued growth. This means investing in people who show up, execute, and grow. Our best lead technicians started exactly where you are standing now.
THE ONE THING
Zero rework. Zero missed documentation. Zero equipment incidents caused by carelessness. The technician who does this consistently is the one who advances.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Place, adjust, and monitor drying equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, and airscrubbers) on water-damaged properties under the direction of the lead technician- Take and log moisture readings at assigned locations — accurately, same day, every time
- Photograph all affected areas: before work begins, during drying, and after completion
- Assist with controlled demolition — removing damaged materials per the scope, cleaning up, confirming quality before moving on
- Set up containment and execute mold remediation tasks under lead direction and protocol
- Perform emergency board-up work — board openings correctly, document all materials used
- Report any unexpected site conditions (mold indicators, equipment damage, customer concerns, structural hazards) to your lead immediately — same shift, not the next morning
- Clock in and out accurately by job with detailed activity notes in QuickBooks Time — same day, every day
WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE
We are open to three types of candidates:
EXPERIENCED — You have worked in restoration, remediation, or a related trade and you have a track record of executing correctly and documenting your work.
EMERGING — You are newer to the trade but you have worked in construction, labor, or a physically demanding field role and you take direction well and do quality work.
NEW TO THE FIELD — You have no restoration experience but you are physically capable, coachable, reliable, and ready to learn a trade with a real career path.
Non-negotiable at every level:
- You follow instructions the first time — no improvising, no shortcuts
- You are honest when something goes wrong — you report it, you do not hide it
- You show up on time, ready to work, with the right attitude
- You take care of equipment like it is your own — because the company trusts you with it
- You are comfortable in physically demanding environments: heat, moisture, mold, PPE
