These requests for assistance can be from walk-in visitors, e-mails, or phone calls, and can be made by the public, or RRC personnel.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help develop and implement operational activities, procedures and policies of the department. The successful candidate will need to integrate the use of new applications and systems into research tasks and provide public assistance with those applications and systems as those resources become available to other RRC personnel and to the public.Work is performed under the supervision of the Information Services Public Service Manager, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.This position is in the RRC headquarters in Austin, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.Essential Job Duties:Train staff and new hires, leads, and/or prioritizes the workload of the Research Team.
Respond to customer inquiries and requests by telephone, e-mail, or in-person.
Assist the public in accessing and researching Commission records
Provide input to the Information Services Public Service Manager in employee performance evaluations.
Produce training material for the research staff, implement administrative procedures and processes, evaluate the effectiveness of those procedures and processes, and make recommendations to the public service manager as necessary.
Assist management with the hiring process for the Research team personnel and training of new employees.
Provide technical and administrative support for other team members.
Perform other administrative duties and special projects as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Proficiency in personal computer operations, specifically MS Office Suites.
Ability to quickly learn new applications and systems and integrate those systems into team procedures.
Must be able to work around equipment generating heat, noise, and bright reflective lights.
Must be able to provide excellent customer service, in a public environment, and to perform job duties under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work on tasks requiring meticulous attention to detail
Ability to utilize arithmetic to complete mathematical calculations.
Ability to respond to rapidly changing pace and workload, and cope with deadline pressures.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, make timely decisions.
Ability to effectively lead a team and address issues/concerns.

Qualifications: Minimum QualificationsGraduation from an accredited four-year college or university
Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
One year of related professional experience.
Ability to work 8:00 a.m. and#8211; 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in the RRC Austin office.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Proficiency in personal computer operations, specifically MS Office Suites.
Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.Preferred QualificationsExperience in the operation of various types of micrographics equipment.
Familiarity with oil and gas documents and research.
Familiarity with records management procedures
Have the ability to speak Spanish.Work Environment:Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment. The noise level in the work environment is generally low to moderate, with occasional customer conversations in public area. May work with old documents that contain dust and other materials.Physical Requirements:The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Ability to reach high and low; open, close, and retrieve files from file cabinets as well as operate a computer keyboard and appropriate office equipment. The position requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time, lift up to 30 lbs., open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.Work Hours: Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternate schedules for employees, as long as it does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained. The Commission may also offer telework based on the agencyand#8217;s approved Telework Plan.
