Job Description

Railcar Modern American Kitchen is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Cashier to support daily restaurant operations and provide efficient service to guests. This role involves welcoming customers, taking food and beverage orders, processing payments, answering basic menu questions, organizing completed orders, and helping maintain a clean and organized front-of-house area. The ideal candidate is attentive, professional, and comfortable working in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and provide friendly, courteous service.
• Take dine-in, takeout, and pickup orders accurately.
• Operate the POS system and process cash, card, and other approved payments.
• Answer basic questions about menu items, pricing, ingredients, and restaurant offerings.
• Confirm order details and communicate customer requests clearly with kitchen and service staff.
• Provide receipts and assist with routine checkout requests.
• Organize completed orders for pickup, takeout, or dine-in service.
• Keep the register, counter, and front-of-house areas clean and organized.
• Restock bags, containers, napkins, utensils, and other restaurant supplies.
• Assist coworkers with routine restaurant duties during busy service periods.
• Help maintain smooth customer and order flow throughout the shift.
• Support opening, closing, and routine restaurant duties as assigned.
• Follow cash-handling, food-safety, sanitation, and restaurant procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier, restaurant, café, retail, or customer-service experience is helpful.
• Friendly, respectful, and professional approach to customers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• Comfortable learning POS and payment procedures.
• Good attention to detail and transaction accuracy.
• Able to remain organized during busy service periods.
• Willingness to learn menu items and restaurant procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
