Duties & Responsibilities

  • Transportation Recordkeeping and Tracking Information: Tracing; the approval of transportation bills; evaluates transportation cost for effectiveness; checks fourth shift for shipment records, keeps records and packages hazardous waste shipments; selects appropriate carriers
  • Packaging Design and Usage: Designs packaging trays using AutoCAD; tailors package design to customer’s needs/requirements; orders package supplies and materials; trains department personnel in packaging methods
  • Shipping: Obtains accurate counts of product by weighing; enters information into Avante; chooses appropriate carriers per customers’ requests and deadlines; completes freight, air bills, international paperwork (typed) packaging slips, boxes
  • Responsible for quality standards in compliance with ISO 9001:2015
  • Training and Evaluation of other personnel as needed
  • Put together kits for all assembly teams.
  • Operate forklift
  • Establish team goals and lead staff in the accomplishment of goals; monitor performance against goals and identify/implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Communicate, daily, with operations management/personnel, customer service, sales, shipping, schedulers, warehouse, designers, product managers, purchasing, and quality.
  • Ensure revision orders are appropriately handled from design completion to shipping. Coordinate new components and raw materials with Purchasing.
  • Inventory Responsibilities: Identify non-current inventory and dispositions to rework or scrap. Analyze shop cycle times, minimize on hand inventory quantities, and identify methods of reducing cycle time and inventory. Maintain Kan Bans and stocking plans per customer requirements. Manage release quantities to meet customer demands, maximize RAFI's profitability (using lot size) and meet customer's delivery performance requirements. Maintain WIP of teams as directed by the Operations Manager
  • MRP Responsibilities: Daily maintenance and upkeep, including but not limited to; opening orders, closing orders, issuing materials to orders, tracking and managing scrap, and financially closing orders for end of month.
  • Oversee KIT/WIP/In-Process Areas
  • Work directly with the Master Scheduler to drive improvement of on-time delivery by drawing up the master schedule to establish sequence and lead-time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecast, customer orders, and raw material availability. This includes rescheduling and expediting.
  • Carry out management activities for direct reports; positively reinforce good work performance; coach and counsel staff in areas requiring improvement while maintaining appropriate documentation in compliance with established policies; write performance evaluations and conduct performance review sessions including goal setting.
  • Foster open communication and a work environment that supports a participative management culture.
  • Is responsible for the written policies and procedures for their Department Operations.
  • Coordinates with the purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, equipment, and services according to requirements of company’s operations. Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages, however caused.
  • Manages the shipping and receiving functions of the company and oversees the storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
  • Supervises and establishes procedures for taking and valuing the year-end physical inventory. Monitors maintenance of perpetual inventory system to ensure the highest degree of accuracy throughout the year.
  • Maintains departmental procedures supporting RAFI’s Quality Management System.
  • Ensures that Profit Improvement goals related to materials and freight are achieved. This includes bi-weekly tracking of cost savings.
  • Provide ongoing supervision of the Department including goal setting and monitoring of progress against goals.
  • Under direction of Production Manager, Master Scheduler and Production staff, develop a system for organizing and controlling release of production orders or related production paperwork as required.
  • Gather required documentation for all production orders to ensure that material is available 2 weeks before order start date.
  • Coordinate schedules for production management staff and expedite any shortages.
  • Review all production order documentation for accuracy, including bill of materials and routings within the ERP System.
  • Assist Master Scheduler with creation of production orders, schedules andcapacity plans as required.
  • Assist production staff with issuing work based on needs of production schedule, input from team leaders and customer priorities.
  • Works directly with the Master Scheduler to ensure proper production control planning and scheduling programs to meet sales forecasts and to balance the level of manpower and machine requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years Supervisory/management experience preferred
  • PC Skills Required; Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)Required
  • Verbal and written communication skills required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5 years of experience working in manufacturing environment
  • Associate's Degree in Business or Related field or compensating experience
  • 3 years of experience working in manufacturing environment
  • Experience with implementing and using lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and statistical Controls systems a plus.
  • Good interpersonal communications skills and the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • 1-2 years warehouse experience
  • Candidates must be a US citizen/Legal Permanent Resident and meet RAFI North America security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
