Role Overview: The Piper is responsible for mounting major components, installing interconnecting piping, soldering, and pressure testing for commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, instructions, and bills of material.
- Operate pipe cutters, torches, and other required equipment.
- Perform quality brazing.
- Ensure quality by checking work and matching equipment serial numbers to drawings and bills of material.
- Sign off on administrative paperwork upon job completion.
- Locate necessary equipment, tools, and parts for the job.
- Determine unit layout based on engineering drawings and functionality.
- Maneuver in and around units and sustain awkward positions to accurately place components.
- Layout equipment for easy servicing of all parts.
- Contribute to team effort by working collaboratively with others.
- Complete tasks assigned by supervisors.
- Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies, and procedures.
- Utilize the IFS system for daily operations, including logging in, reviewing assigned work, and maintaining accurate records
- Complete and clear IFS shop orders in a timely and accurate manner to support production tracking and reporting
- Participate in and complete required IFS training to ensure proper system usage and compliance
- Support and maintain 6S standards within the department to promote organization, cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency

- Work overtime as needed.
- Attend work as required and arrive on time.
- Accurately charge time in the time and attendance system to ensure proper labor distribution and payroll.
- Follow manufacturing instructions and work independently without constant supervision.
- Maintain and care for tools and equipment, reporting any issues to maintenance.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma preferred for upward advancement opportunities.
- Ability to understand directions from supervisors.
- Skills:
- Effective communication and listening skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and technical drawings.
- Basic mathematical skills, including reading a tape measure to 1/16 of an inch.
- Ability to assess performance and implement improvements.
- Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork.
- Certificates, Licenses, or Training: On-site training provided.
Level/Grade:
- Level 1: Beginning level piper; meets minimal quality standards, requires more time to complete work.
- Level 2: Proficient level; meets quality standards and completes work within estimated hours.
- Level 3: Advanced level; exceeds quality standards and completes work faster than estimated.
Interaction with Others:
Reports to the NAP Supervisor and Lead. Must accurately receive and follow instructions from supervisors and leads. Effective collaboration and teamwork with other employees are essential. The Piper should actively foster a spirit of cooperation and maintain good relationships with coworkers, asking and answering questions as needed.
Working Environment:
Work is performed in an industrial production area for refrigeration and HVAC equipment manufacturing. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, with high noise levels in some areas. The work environment includes exposure to extreme temperatures during both summer and winter. Possible stress from meeting deadlines and quality standards, as well as seasonal variations in work hours based on production demands.
