Responsibilities

Job Title: Paramedic

Reports to: Site Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

  • This position does not meet the criteria for exemption from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act; thus you will be eligible to receive overtime compensation, as appropriate. Overtime requires prior approval from your supervisor.

Job Summary

The Paramedic is responsible for assessing, stabilizing, and providing emergency/urgent care for patients with acute illnesses or injuries, bridging the gap between home and hospital by performing advanced life support, administering medications, managing airways, and ensuring safe patient transport or transition to the next level of care, documenting all actions meticulously and maintaining equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Start IV’s.
  • Monitor patients.
  • Administer medication for various reactions as needed.
  • Enact code policy as needed.
  • Patient lifting as needed.
  • Administer Flu vaccinations.
  • Answer telephone as needed.
  • Call in advance of scheduled exams to verify appointments as needed.
  • Dispense and or explain preps for different exams as needed.
  • Additional duties as necessary in order for the office to operate cohesively.

Minimum Qualifications, Education, And Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • BLS is required (Basic Life Support Certification).
  • NREMT and ACLS certifications is required.
  • Ability to relate to the public in a professional and courteous manner, understanding the objectives of the organization, regardless of racial, ethnic, religion, sexual orientation, gender, mental/physical health, age, economic status, etc.
  • Responds to emergency situations in a calm and appropriate fashion.
  • The above knowledge, skills, and abilities may be demonstrated by successful completion of an accredited program, state and federal licenses (as applicable), and appropriate registrations and/or certifications.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills, strong written and verbal communications skills, and additional medical related knowledge preferred.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, and have the ability to interact effectively with doctors, staff, patients, vendors, peers, and management.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to concentrate on detailed work for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow.
  • Ability to assist with lifting patients if needed.
  • Perform moderately difficult manipulative skills and eye-hand coordination skills.
  • See objects closely.
  • Hear normal sounds with some background noises.
  • Ability to concentrate on moderate detail with frequent interruption and attend to tasks for less than 10 minutes at a time.
  • Ability to understand and relate to specific ideas generally, several at a time.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, using standard high-school vocabulary.
  • This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling or palpating, speaking, listening, and high-level cognition.
  • Also, must be able to lift over 50 pounds, occasionally.
  • All employees are to assist and participate as members of a lift assistance team (for special accommodation patients or any patient requiring assistance onto a table or equipment placement) to initiate or complete an exam or procedure.

Working Environment

Work in an outpatient medical office setting with low to moderate noise level.

Pay range is $25-$30 per hour.
