Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Underwriting and Tax Accountant based in Riverview, FL. The Underwriting and Tax Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of our nonprofit organization by managing the accounting processes related the support received through our underwriting team, as well as managing and filing all federal, state, and county taxes and annual reports. This position requires a deep understanding of federal, state, and local taxes and a detail-oriented individual who is focused on accuracy and finds joy in working within the structured framework of time-sensitive deadlines. Working with our office of compliance, this individual will assist in identifying taxable/non-taxable digital underwriting and filing and paying the associated UBIT on behalf of our network.

Possessing a gospel-centric approach, team collaboration, and friendly a demeanor is vital to the overall success of this role. This is more than a typical “number-crunching” accounting role, this is ministry.

This position reports directly to the Controller.

Responsibilities

• Manage the accounting of all financials related to our Underwriting team.
• Provide oversight of proper invoicing to clients who support our ministry through our Underwriting efforts.
• Reconcile all Underwriting income.
• Prepare all federal, state, and local taxes and file accordingly once approval is received.
• Manage account process for underwriting.
• Preparation of business property tax returns.
• Assist with annual 1099 processing.
• Assist with external audits and preparation of schedules and tax forms.
• Maintain internal controls and recommend process improvement.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA and CPA candidate a plus.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting; nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit tax regulations
• Proficient in QuickBooks accounting software and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

All of the duties assigned to the Network Accountant require a deep understanding of and faithful commitment to the Christian faith, particularly where he/she is interacting with the listeners and or contributors of any RTN Radio station.
