Peer Support Specialist – Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

Are you someone who has experienced mental health or substance use struggles firsthand and want to use your own recovery journey to help others? We are looking for a Peer Support Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team.
As a Peer Support Specialist, you’ll bring something unique to the team: lived experience, hope, understanding, and the ability to show others that recovery is possible. You’ll work alongside ACT team members to support individuals experiencing serious and persistent mental illness and/or substance use challenges as they work toward their own goals and recovery.
What You’ll Do
- Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Share your own recovery experiences when appropriate to provide hope, reassurance, and encouragement.
- Help individuals identify their strengths, goals, and personal definition of recovery.
- Provide support related to coping skills, symptoms of mental illness, medications and side effects, relapse prevention, and recovery.
- Engage individuals through outreach, support, and community-based services.
- Promote self-determination and support individuals through the stages of change.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating healthy coping and recovery skills.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow ACT program guidelines.
- Complete required documentation and training.

As a Peer Support Specialist, you won't simply tell someone that recovery is possible—you can show them through your own experience. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary ACT Team dedicated to meeting people where they are, supporting their goals, and helping them move toward the life they want.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willing to obtain Certified Peer Support certification (CPSP) within 6 months of employment.
- Must have personal, lived experience in your own recovery from addiction, mental illness, or co-occurring substance and mental disorders.
- Minimum recovery time of 1-2 years
- Experience working in behavioral health, social work, case management, or related field preferred
- Must have a valid drivers license, care insurance, and reliable vehicle
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
Salary : $16 - $17
