Job Title: Chief Development Officer (CDO)
Reports To: Executive Director/CEO
Summary: The Chief Development Officer (CDO) plays an essential leadership role at RHC, setting the strategic direction of the organization's fundraising, development and communication strategies. As a strategic partner to the CEO, the CDO leads the creation and implementation of a holistic fund development plan that aligns with RHC's mission, ensuring sustainability and organizational growth.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement overarching development strategy incorporating major gifts, donor engagement, corporate partnerships, and diverse fundraising opportunities.
- Direct the development and marketing teams, fostering collaboration and operational efficiency. The team includes the Director of Events and Corporate Relations, Director of Marketing and Communication, Grants Manager, and Junior Salesforce Administrator.
- Lead individual giving initiatives, including major donor cultivation, stewardship, and donor engagement strategies.
- Manage a personal portfolio of major donors, ensuring relationship-building, identification, cultivation, and solicitation.
- Integrate marketing and communication initiatives, led by the Director of Marketing and Communications, with development strategies to expand RHC's visibility and impact.
- Ensure that the marketing and communications plan aligns with development goals and RHC's strategic objectives.
- Provide strategic oversight for events and corporate giving initiatives, managed by the Director of Events and Corporate Relations.
- Lead efforts to identify and secure new foundation and corporate support, including outreach to prospective funders about RHC's current programs and future projects. Maintain and strengthen relationships with current foundation funders.
- Serve as the primary facilitator among the Executive Director, Board of Directors, relevant committees, and senior management team to advance donor relationships.
- Prepare data-driven reports to monitor, narrate, and report on the effectiveness of fundraising and marketing strategies.
- Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization, guiding team members at all levels to embrace and advocate for fundraising as a shared responsibility.
- Ensure the integrity and accessibility of the Salesforce database, overseeing the maintenance of comprehensive records for contributors and grants.
- Demonstrate expertise in fundraising technologies and software, with a strong understanding of best practices, implementation strategies, and staff direction in utilizing tools like donor management systems, CRMs, and digital fundraising platforms.
- Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Communications on advocacy and community engagement initiatives to advance health equity, social justice, and civic engagement, including initiatives such as LGBTQ healthcare rights advocacy.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience leading comprehensive fundraising programs, with expertise in individual giving, major gifts, and campaign management.
- Experience in initiating and stewarding major gifts, coordinating fundraising events, and engaging diverse donor bases.
- Strong strategic planning, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience managing fundraising teams and collaborating cross-departmentally.
- Exceptional communication and writing skills, impeccable attention to detail, strong organizational and project management skills and interpersonal skills.
- Finance and accounting knowledge, budgeting experience, and computer literacy are a must.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and Salesforce (preferred).
- Demonstrable experience with fundraising technologies, including donor management systems, CRMs, and digital fundraising platforms.
- Bilingual capacity (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Provide proof of immunizations.
- Valid Driver’s License and Proof Car Insurance
