Position: Subject Matter Expert – Workday Application Developer
Duration:12 months
Location: onsite, Washington Avenue, Towson, Maryland
Position Summary
Baltimore County’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a Workday Application Developer to support the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing administration of the County’s Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financial systems. This position will be responsible for developing Workday integrations, configuring business processes, maintaining system reports, and providing technical support to agency and end users. The ideal candidate will have hands-on Workday experience and strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Development & Configuration
- Design, build, test, and deploy Workday integrations using EIB, Studio, Core Connectors, and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST APIs).
- Configure and maintain Workday business processes, calculated fields, custom validations, and condition rules.
- Develop and maintain Workday custom reports and related analytics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system or integration-related issues.
2. Integration Management
- Create and maintain integrations between Workday and third-party systems (HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, etc.).
- Monitor scheduled integrations and promptly address failures or data inconsistencies.
- Document integration design, configuration steps, workflows, and data flow processes.
- Optimize existing integrations to improve performance, accuracy, and reliability.
3. Reporting & Analytics
- Develop and maintain Workday reports and dashboards to support business, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with business users to gather reporting needs and translate them into effective Workday reporting solutions.
- Automate report scheduling and distribution for end users.
Minimum Qualifications / Required Skill Sets
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Computer Science, plus at least two years of experience in the administration or support of enterprise systems including web services, Workday HCM, Payroll, Financials, or Reporting.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis (up to four years).
Preferred Qualifications / Desired Skill Sets
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of business processes and the ability to analyze detailed workflows to identify business needs and opportunities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Proven success supporting HCM, Payroll, and Financial systems.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality and security of proprietary and sensitive data.
- Demonstrated hands-on Workday experience.
- Experience working as a technical resource in a Workday implementation or post-production support environment.
- Workday certification or equivalent experience.
