Assist the County in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of local infrastructure.
- Review plans and specifications in accordance with engineering best practices for design and construction projects.
- Provide CAD drafting and design research for County design projects and bidding.
- Provide communication with the public on County projects and policies.
- Prepare costs estimates for grant applications as part of funding procurement.
- Review and issue permits within County ROW for utilities, highway access, and oversized/overweight vehicles.
- Assist with 5-year capital improvement plans.
- Conduct traffic engineering studies and intersection vehicle counts for presentation to management.
- Inspection of field work on County construction projects.
- Participate in public meetings to provide information to public stakeholders.
- Perform field work measurements and data gather as necessary for project development.
- Review development site plans and Traffic Impact Analyses.
- Establish PASER ratings for County Highways in accordance with WISLR.
- Performs other duties, as required, at the direction of the Engineering Manager and Assistant Engineering Manager.
Supervision Exercised
The Civil Engineer has functional supervisory responsibility for personnel assigned to an engineering field crew or design team.
Supervision Received
Receives supervision from the Engineering Manager.
- Qualifications
- Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 2 years work experience in a similar field.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Fluent with Microsoft products such as Word & Excel.
- Experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D or similar drafting programs
- Effective written and oral communicator.
- Preferred skill set
- Knowledge of WisDOT specifications and Facilities Development Manual
- Experience with Trimble software and GPS surveying equipment
Knowledge Skills & Abilities- 2 years or more work experience in a similar field and completion of FE exam.
- Fluent with Microsoft products such as Word and Excel for everyday job duties.
