Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but may not be limited to:
- Help maintain all survey equipment and notify appropriate personnel when repairs or replacements are needed.
- Set up and operate surveying equipment such as total stations, levels, GPS receivers and data collectors.
- Assist with the collection of various types of surveys, such as boundary, topography, as-built, ALTA and construction stakeout.
- Open manhole lids and measure utility inverts with level and/or laser equipment.
- Be able to lift and carry heavy equipment, sometimes up to 50 lbs or more.
- Record accurate field notes and/or sketches.
- Clear brush, trees, or other obstructions from the survey line.
- Measure distances between points using tape measures or electronic devices.
- Hold the prism pole steady for accurate elevation measurements.
- Lay out stakes for horizontal and vertical survey measurements.
- Search for property corners, control, and other survey points.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- The ability to learn quickly, a self-starter mentality, highly dependable, with strong communication skills, and a solid work ethic
- A valid and insurable drivers license
- Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods of time with the physical ability to stand on varied surfaces, walk long distances including harsh terrain, and the ability to withstand seasonal temperatures and various weather conditions
- The ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Willing to travel (and spend the night) for assignments outside local area during work hours (average 70 times per year).
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
Bonus Points if you have:
- Safety Training Classes and/or OSHA certification.
- Training Certifications (CST, MOT, CPR, first aid, etc.).
- Previous work experience in an AEC related firm.
