Summary/Objective
Rabine Paving Texas is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator (Heavy Civil) with strong knowledge of the Texas construction market. This position is responsible for preparing accurate, production-based estimates for mass grading, site utilities, pavement construction, and concrete work across both negotiated and competitive bid opportunities. The ideal candidate will be capable of contributing immediately with minimal ramp-up while supporting Rabine's standards for margin protection, bid discipline, and execution readiness.
Essential Functions
- Prepare detailed, executable estimates for:
- Mass grading and earthwork
- Underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water)
- Asphalt and concrete pavement systems
- Structural and flatwork concrete
- Develop and manage estimates for negotiated, design-assist, and competitive hard-bid projects.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing validation, and risk identification.
- Build, maintain, and manage estimating assemblies within HeavyBid.
- Support budget handoff, buyout strategy, and operational alignment through HeavyJob.
- Protect project margins through disciplined cost analysis, scope clarity, and risk management.
- Participate in site walks, client meetings, and scope development discussions.
- Support follow-up efforts required to close work and finalize pricing.
- Coordinate closely with operations to ensure constructability, sequencing, and execution readiness.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- 8–12 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
- Demonstrated Texas market experience with proven expertise in:
- Mass grading and earthwork
- Underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water)
- Asphalt and concrete pavement construction
- Proven success estimating both negotiated and competitive hard-bid work.
- Advanced, hands-on experience with HeavyBid and HeavyJob (required).
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Technology, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field required. Equivalent heavy civil estimating experience may be considered.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to evaluate cost structure, margin exposure, and risk.
- Ability to consistently produce accurate, executable, production-based estimates with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of constructability, sequencing, and field execution requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating large-scale civil, industrial, or commercial site development projects in Texas.
- Field or operational background (superintendent, project engineer, or project management).
- Experience supporting projects from preconstruction through closeout, including buyout and turnover.
- Established relationships with Texas-based subcontractors, material suppliers, and trucking providers.
- Experience in a high-volume, performance-driven estimating environment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
