Electrical Engineer

Job Description

My client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of complex mobile electrical systems across design, production, and post-production phases. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being hands-on, detail-oriented, and acting as the technical bridge between engineering design, manufacturing, and project delivery teams.

You will be joining a well-established organization with a dedicated engineering and service division, where electrical quality, safety, and execution are critical to successful project outcomes. This role offers strong visibility across the full lifecycle of mobile electrical builds and provides the opportunity to influence both design intent and real-world implementation.

Role & Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between electrical design, mobile engineering, production, and project management teams
• Review and consult on electrical design layouts prior to customer approval, including placement, accessibility, and maintainability of high-voltage equipment
• Ensure production teams are working from the most current electrical drawings and that obsolete revisions are not used
• Lead the intake, review, and evaluation of proposed electrical design changes throughout the project lifecycle
• Support communication of electrical design changes to customers and assist in reviewing customer feedback
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to design optimal routing for rigid and flexible conduit
• Design efficient layouts for junction boxes prior to installation
• Assess proposed deviations from electrical drawings and determine, with cross-functional teams, whether changes improve safety or performance
• Capture, document, and update approved design changes on electrical drawings
• Perform point-to-point wiring tests and other validation activities on as-built units
• Compare test results against the latest electrical drawings to ensure accuracy and integrity
• Update AutoCAD electrical drawings to reflect as-built conditions
• Troubleshoot and resolve wiring and design issues during production
• Assist with specification and selection of electrical components required during production
• Work alongside third-party testing groups, providing technical clarification and design insight
• Verify third-party test results related to wiring and device layout
• Support the creation and verification of electrical functionality documentation for customer user manuals

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design within the electric power industry
• Strong foundational knowledge of power systems and substation design principles
• Proficiency in creating and editing AutoCAD electrical drawings
• Hands-on experience with electrical relays, protection, and control systems
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety, and documentation
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across engineering, production, and external stakeholders
• Practical problem-solving skills and comfort working in dynamic production environments
