What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plastic Surgery Perioperative Registered Nurse position at Rêve Plastic Surgery?
We are seeking an experienced, polished, and highly dependable Perioperative Nurse – Surgical Patient Care to join a new boutique plastic surgery practice in the Austin / Dripping Springs area.
This is not a high-volume institutional nursing role. It is an opportunity to join a startup, surgeon-led practice built around a low-volume, high-touch model of care, where the patient experience is intentionally personal, discreet, and detail-driven.
The nurse in this role will support patients across multiple stages of the surgical journey, including pre-operative appointments with the surgeon, perioperative preparation, surgical day flow, post-anesthesia recovery, discharge education, and post-operative follow-up. Because this is a startup environment, the role is broader than a traditional perioperative nursing position and requires maturity, initiative, sound judgment, and a high level of professionalism.
We are looking for someone who is not only clinically capable, but who also understands how to care for patients in a refined, private, high-expectation setting.
Key Responsibilities
· See patients with the surgeon during pre-operative appointments
· Reinforce pre-operative education, instructions, and recovery planning
· Support patient readiness for surgery through assessment, preparation, and documentation
· Assist with perioperative flow and surgical day coordination
· Recover and monitor patients in the immediate post-anesthesia period
· Provide discharge teaching and post-operative guidance to patients and caregivers
· Support post-operative calls, follow-up communication, and routine clinical triage
· Coordinate closely with the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and clinical team
· Help maintain a calm, organized, safe, and high-standard clinical environment
· Contribute to workflow development and clinical readiness in a startup practice
Qualifications
Required
· Active Texas RN license
· Plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or office-based surgery experience
· Current BLS certification
· Experience with PACU recovery and discharge assessment
· Current ACLS certification
Preferred
· Experience with pre-operative and post-operative patient education
· Strong clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
· Comfort working in a startup or boutique private practice environment
· Experience in perioperative, procedural, surgical, PACU, ambulatory surgery, or a closely related setting
· Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
· Ability to work with professionalism, discretion, and accountability in a small team environment
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is calm, composed, clinically strong, detail-oriented, polished in communication, and comfortable in a startup environment where flexibility, ownership, and high standards matter. This role is best suited to a nurse who values excellence over pace, quality over volume, and meaningful patient care over transactional clinical work.
Schedule
This is a full-time position at 32 hours, 4 days, per week (Tuesday-Friday). Schedule will align with designated clinic and operative days and will include a combination of pre-operative appointments, surgical support, recovery responsibilities, post-operative follow-up, and other clinical duties consistent with a startup private practice environment.
