Overview
R. Pepin and Sons, Inc. is looking to hire a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This candidate should have experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial vehicles. We operate Ready-Mix Concrete Trucks, Kenworth Tractors and Tri-Axle Dump Trucks, and Precast Concrete Boom Trucks. Former experience working with loaders, excavators, crushers, screeners, and other heavy equipment is also a plus but not required.
This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical systems. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring that our equipment operates efficiently and safely. We have other mechanics working here who will assist with initial training. This position will report directly to the owner of the company with no other boss. Mechanical work is done primarily in our heated shop. Road calls are required on occasion. Typical hours are 6:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. Monday - Friday with additional overtime available upon request. We can also allow for a 3-4 day work week in the winter if requested. We provide all tools.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and other repairs on equipment such as Front-End-Loaders, Ready-Mix Concrete Trucks, Tractors/Trailers, and Dump Trucks.
- Help sand/paint/and rebuild trucks over the winter.
- Work with other mechanics efficiently to perform maintenance related tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, services performed, and parts used.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Adhere to safety protocols while working in the shop or on-site.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and industrial machinery.
- Experience with welding is a benefit.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license is required.
