International Team Lead is responsible for leading and developing a team of international logistics professionals. This position will mentor, guide and train International team members on developing our Ocean/Air and Import/Export customer accounts by acting as a liaison between Licensed Customs Brokers, agents, Ocean/Air Terminal Operators, and customers.
International Team Lead responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Lead, train and develop an international freight forwarding team
Ensure your team is proficient in utilizing our internal tools to accurately and effectively process international freight orders
Guide and assist team members to ensure timely preparation of rates and quotes for customers and overseas agents
Ensure your team is proficient in utilizing our internal tools to accurately and effectively process international freight orders
Oversee and assist with the routing of import and export bookings with airline and ocean carriers
- Review and ensure alignment of shipping instructions including to clarify any deviations/conflicts in contradiction to country regulations, export compliance, rate, and routing information
Support the development of existing and new customers
Collaborate and build relationships with customers, carriers, and agent representatives regarding air, ocean, import, and export products
Prepare all necessary shipping documentation related to international bookings and process all import/export documentation to clearing agents to include: (HAWB’s, MAWB’s, AES’s, Manifest, Shipping Instructions, Haz Cargo Decl., Bill of Ladings, and Certificate of Origin, etc.)
Dispatch pick-ups to authorized agents and drayage companies, shipping lines, airlines, trucking companies, clearing agents, warehouses, and all other parties involved in the shipment
Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies, communicate timely correspondence back to both customers and vendors
Act as a liaison with Custom Brokers and agents, along with Ocean and Air Terminal Operators
Team Lead should remain a POSITIVE influence within the branch by not only explaining corporate initiatives thoroughly for better understanding, but also by keeping the team motivated for best in class service to both internal and external customers.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of study or equivalent education plus work experience
5 years’ experience with operations in a freight forwarding environment
3 years’ supervisory experience
Ability to mentor, motivate and develop a team to effectively build relationships and negotiate with customers and airline and ocean carriers
Strong knowledge of state, federal, and international applicable laws and regulations i.e. customs, TSA, security, and all other import and export government agencies that regulate international trade
- Solid knowledge of domestic and international geography including countries, major cities
Ability to manage complex transactional or emotional customer situations promptly and professionally
Strong knowledge and understanding of state, federal, and international applicable laws and regulations i.e. customs, TSA, security, and all other import and export government agencies that regulate international trade
Prior experience with CargoWise One software system preferred
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bi-lingual a plus
