R. J. Corman Switching Company is seeking a Track Crew Member to join our team in Jesup, GA.
Responsibilities:
- Work in conjunction with the Track Inspector to install and repair railroad track and complete other projects as needed.
- Operate machinery in order to adequately inspect and maintain the track.
- Complete all required documentation.
- Promote a safe work environment.
- Railroad experience preferred.
- Perform tasks associated with track work including but not limited to: pulling and driving spikes, replacing ties, surfacing track, changing rail, bars, and other track apparatus.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience
- Able to pass Railroad safety test and training.
- Can safely and efficiently operate power tools.
- Must have good communication skills and good employee relations.
- Should be multi-task oriented and possess good analytical skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to perform physical strenuous work
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs
- Requires occasional use of 30 lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50 lbs of force
- Requires occasional use of 10 lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75 lbs of force
- Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
- Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
