Summary/Objective
The HR Coordinator will provide essential support in various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll/benefits administration, and compliance. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about HR and eager to grow their career in a collaborative and dynamic environment, working closely to assist the VP of Human Resources.
Essential Functions

- Manage a full-cycle recruitment and onboarding process for new hires.
- Assist in job postings, resume screening, and coordinating interviews.
- Prepare new hire paperwork and ensure a smooth onboarding process.
- Conduct orientation sessions and assist new employees with initial questions.
- Employee Records Management
- Maintain and update employee files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in tracking and managing employee leave requests, and performance documentation.
- Assist with benefits administration and payroll.
- Support employees with benefit enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
- Assist in coordinating open enrollment and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and credit union policies.
- Prepare HR-related reports as needed.
- Act as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns, escalating issues when necessary.
- Support engagement initiatives, such as employee appreciation events and surveys.
- General administrative support for the VP, Human Resources, such as for projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate meetings as needed.
- Manage HR-related communications, such as newsletters and updates.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with Human Resource vendors.

Skills/Competencies
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems (preferred).
- High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with employment laws and HR best practices (a plus).
Supervisory Responsibility
No supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to spend considerable time sitting at a desk, completing work using a computer, regularly answers phone calls and interacts with employees at all levels of the organization. The employee will occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds.
Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. While normal hours of work and days for R.I.A. Federal Credit Union are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., hours for this position reflect administrative attendance, but may vary based on job-related requirements.
Travel
Less than 10% travel is expected for this position with some local travel in the Quad City area, and the possibility of occasional travel to our outlying locations.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Experience
- Previous administrative or HR experience required.
- Experience working in an HRIS/Payroll system, such as, Paycom preferred.
