What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Generalist position at Rock River Lumber & Grain DBA Frary Lumber?
Rock River Lumber & Grain, a locally owned grain, agronomy and lumber retailer has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, self-starter to join our team as a HR Generalist.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and updating employee files
- Enter new employees in payroll system, implement new hire orientation and handle open enrollment of benefits annually
- Review, track and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. This may include safety training, OSHA requirements and anti-harassment training
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity and morale
- Recruit, interview and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
- Processing and maintaining all workers’ compensation claims, unemployment requests, FMLA leaves and absences
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
- Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
- Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related law and regulations
- Ability to interact and communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner with persons of all organization levels
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolutions skills
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
