What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Estimator position at Qwest Electric LLC?
Qwest Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator who can take ownership of the preconstruction and bidding process from start to finish. The ideal candidate understands both design-build and plan/spec environments, has strong technical knowledge, and knows how to collaborate across departments to deliver accurate and competitive estimates.
Key Responsibilities
- Review plans, specifications, and addenda to determine the full project scope.
- Perform material and labor take-offs for lighting, power, gear, site lighting, and special systems.
- Collaborate directly with the President, VP of Estimating, Project Managers, and field leadership to refine budgets, validate constructability, and align estimates with operational goals.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for gear, lighting, and specialty systems.
- Prepare and organize detailed proposals and bid packages for clients and general contractors.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, design reviews, and handoffs to operations.
- Support value engineering initiatives and maintain historical cost data.
Qualifications
- 5 years of commercial or industrial electrical estimating experience (design-build preferred).
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Accubid, ConEst, or comparable estimating software.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, and construction drawings.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Prior field experience (Foreman, Superintendent, or PM background) a plus.
