The Company:
Lake Quivira Country Club is a private 1000-acre community located on the west side of Kansas City. Developed in the late 1920’s and officially open in 1931, Lake Quivira has grown to be something very special in the Kansas City market. The club not only has some of the best views in the city, but we also have a wide array of amenities that we offer our residents, members, and guests. From the fun, yet challenging, golf course to the community center which offers indoor tennis and pickleball, lap pool swimming, Kindergarten, full fitness facility including studios with a variety of classes and a private indoor golf simulator studio. The Position:
This position is responsible for all Club tennis activity programming, including developing and promoting racquet programs for all age groups, while providing quality member service. This position organizes racquet clinics and private lessons that encourage participation in the Club’s racquet activities and will promote racquet memberships to all potential prospects. This position acts as the Club’s Racquet Ambassador to enhance the value of the Club.
The Essential Functions:
- Assist in all functions of the business.
- Assist the members with all racquet needs and ensure racquet policies are being followed.
- Schedule, administer and promote leagues, round robins, drop-in, ladders, tournaments, and all other events as applicable.
- Develop and promote racquet clinics, private lessons, adult, junior and senior programs.
- Communicate with Membership & Marketing Director to schedule and publicize racquet events.
- Call new members to conduct a racquet orientation into the facility and programs available.
- Maintain courts in a professional manner and ensure that the environment is safe for all those who use the facility.
- Maximize the Clubs racquet facilities to reduce attrition and attract new members
- Responsible for seeing that daily assignments are completed in their respective areas, to meet Club standards (ie orderly/organized work areas, straighten/arrange furniture/equipment, picking up trash/debris, etc.).
- Assist fellow Team Members, Members, and guests to ensure communication of service without being directed.
- Be aware of Team Members and the environment and participate as a member of the team.
- Notify supervisor of Member/Guest complaints at the time they occur. Rectify, practicing service recovery, any complaints as soon as possible.
- Must be able to interact with Members/Guests professionally, helping them with changes and last-minute requests as needed.
- Strings racquets and performs other light equipment repairs.
- Coordinates maintenance, repair and cleaning of courts with Grounds and Maintenance departments.
- Assists with managing, supervising, training and evaluating of the assistant racquet staff.
- Maintains accurate records, charges, and fees of all lessons and clinics given.
- Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Director of Racquet Sports or Community Center Director.
- Ability to communicate effectively with proper grammar.
- Ability to work well under pressure, coordinating multiple tasks at any given time.
- Ability to focus attention on detail.
- Responsible for maintaining good conduct and safe working habits while in all areas and assuring that others are acting safely.
- Wearing a CLEAN and neat uniform property uniform standards daily.
- Minimum of 3 years as a Racquet Professional.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- College degree preferred. Undergraduate major in Physical Education or Sports Management desirable.
- USPTA Elite Professional Preferred. Certified Professional -1.
- Collegiate team experience desirable, preferably with a 4.5 or above rating.
- Pickleball experience desirable, preferably with a 4.0 or above rating
- Two to three year competitive playing experience and/or racquet supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of court maintenance.
- Able to promote and teach private and group lessons to juniors and adults on indoor and outdoor with soft or hard surfaces.
- Plays or represents the club in Pro-Ams.
- Ability to re-string, re-grip and repair rackets.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
