Part-Time Bookkeeper
Location: Office-based
Schedule: Part-time, 21 hours per week
Reports to: Vice President
About the Role
Quintessence Publishing is seeking an organized and detail-oriented part-time Bookkeeper to support our accounting operations. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing financial records and ensuring the accuracy of our financial data. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual who thrives in a team environment while maintaining a high level of autonomy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices and issue timely payments.
- Expense Management: Review and process employee travel and expense reports.
- Bank & Credit Card Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Journal Entries & General Ledger: Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Month-End Close: Support the month-end closing process, ensuring all records are accurate and complete.
- Year End: Compile information and issue 1099s and 1042s yearly.
- Intercompany Transactions: Maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts across various international offices. Prepare statements and generate invoices for intercompany payments.
- Financial Reporting: Produce ad hoc financial reports to support business decisions and management review.
- Budget & Forecast Support: Assist the VP in compiling budgets and forecasts.
- Analysis: Analyze financial data.
Additional Note
We are currently in the process of migrating our accounting systems to QuickBooks or a comparable platform. While experience with accounting system migrations is highly desirable, it is not required.
Requirements
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting role. Must be capable of working independently.
- Strong understanding of technical accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Stripe, Sage, Xero, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage tasks autonomously and meet deadlines without close supervision.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Package
- $28-30 per hour, paid bi-weekly
- Paid time off and personal days (pro rata)
