Responsibilities
- Research regarding coverage issues and writing coverage opinions providing legal advice to insurance clients across many different lines of liability coverages.
- Independently manage a litigation caseload for both first-party insurance disputes and coverage disputes arising from third-party liability coverage.
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements.
- Prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, including depositions.
- Attend mediations and otherwise negotiate settlements.
- Retain and manage experts, including assisting with expert inspections and the creation of expert reports.
- Communicate with shareholders, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently.
Experience
- 4-5 years of insurance coverage experience
- Strong insurance knowledge
- Strong research and writing skills
Qualification and Education Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
Required Skills
- Experience preparing insurance coverage opinions and participating in coverage litigation.
- Experience analyzing, reviewing, editing, and drafting litigation documents, as well as superior logical reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Must have demonstrated the ability to work with clients who demand excellence and be able to meet their expectations.
- A commitment to working ethically and always in the best interest of the client.
