Duties
- Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems including Ethernet, telephony, fiber optic cables, and low voltage wiring.
- Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal integrity and performance.
- Set up and configure network equipment such as Cisco routers and switches to establish reliable network connections.
- Conduct field service visits to troubleshoot and repair cabling infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
- Use hand tools, ohmmeters, and other mechanical tools to accurately measure electrical resistance and verify cable continuity.
- Assist in the installation of telecommunication systems, including voice and data cabling for commercial clients.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all installations, repairs, and testing procedures for project records and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or field technician specializing in telecommunication or networking systems.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage wiring.
- Skilled in fiber splicing techniques with the ability to handle delicate fiber optic components safely.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and network configuration is highly desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools such as crimpers, cutters, strippers, and testers.
- Electrical experience or background in low voltage wiring is preferred.
- Ability to read technical diagrams and mechanical drawings accurately.
