Shipping Load Inspector - 2nd Shift

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Shipping Load Inspector for our 2nd Shift (4-10's) to conduct our third-party logistics (3PL) warehouse's shipping compliance activities. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient shipping of orders from our facility. You will be responsible for inspecting orders staged in the designated area, verifying the contents against pick tickets and bills of lading, and confirming that all packaging and palletization instructions have been adhered to. Your role will involve closely monitoring the loading process into trailers, containers, or trucks, securing the shipment with appropriate seals, and authorizing the shipping department for the departure of the truck from the dock.

Key Responsibilities

• Thoroughly inspect orders that are staged in the designated area to validate their accuracy and completeness according to the provided pick tickets and bills of lading.
• Review packaging and palletization instructions to ensure all standards and requirements are met for safe transportation and storage.
• Conduct visual checks to identify any damaged or defective items, ensuring that only high-quality products are shipped to customers.
• Oversee the loading process of products into trailers, containers, or trucks, making sure that items are loaded securely to prevent damage during transit.
• Affix appropriate seals and locking mechanisms to trailers, containers, or trucks, maintaining the integrity and security of the shipment.
• Accurately record and maintain records of inspections, seal numbers, and any discrepancies identified during the process.
• Collaborate with the shipping department, warehouse staff, and truck drivers to facilitate a smooth and timely shipping process.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and guidelines during the loading and sealing processes to create a safe working environment.
• Address any issues or concerns that arise during the inspection or loading process promptly and effectively.
• Suggest and implement process improvements to optimize the shipping workflow and increase overall efficiency.

Required Skills/Abilities and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years proven experience in a warehouse or shipping-related role, with exposure to order inspection and loading procedures.
• Familiarity with pick tickets, bills of lading, and shipping documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order verification.
• Ability to read and interpret packaging and palletization instructions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer literacy for recording and reporting purposes.
• Physical fitness to handle lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods.
• Prior experience with shipping security measures and seal application is a plus.
