Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Shipping Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day shipping operations of our warehouse. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and cost-effective shipment of goods while maintaining compliance with company policies and shipping regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, knowledge of shipping, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all outbound shipping activities, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Lead and mentor a team of shipping clerks, order selectors, order checkers, route loaders and other warehouse staff.
- Monitor workflow and assign daily tasks to shipping team members.
- Ensure compliance with shipping and handling procedures, including packaging, labeling, and documentation. Setting and verifying the correct temperature for the assigned trailers
- Maintain records of all outgoing shipments and update inventory systems accordingly.
- Schedule pickups with freight carriers, courier services, and third-party logistics providers.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to optimize shipping efficiency.
- Enforce safety protocols and company policies in all shipping operations.
- Train new team members and conduct ongoing training for best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Receiving, Inventory Control, Customer Service) to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Resolve shipping discrepancies or issues, examples include shortages, damages or mis-picks reported on delivery
- Keeping the warehouse staff accountable under the company policy
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, including 1 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of shipping methods, freight handling, and logistics systems.
- Experience in inventory management systems and shipping software (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, ERP systems).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift certification a plus.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating warehouse equipment.
- Working in environments with varying temperatures (e.g., shipping docks).
Salary : $55,000 - $70,000
