Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.

QCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict. Over four decades, our reach and breadth have grown; today we offer a broad network of comprehensive services at 25 program sites in 11 different neighborhoods in Queens, allowing us to impact individuals, families, and entire communities.

,

Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships in Western, Central and Southwest Queens. We're currently in need of Friendly Visiting volunteers to provide social engagement to older adults in our community. Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, play board games and much more!!

We are in need of volunteers in Western, Central and Southwest Queens. These areas include Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood, Glendale, Rego Park, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Woodhaven, Richmond Hill, Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Jamaica, Hollis, St. Albans, The Rockaways and Broad Channel.

The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities. Friendly visitors must be 18 and over, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, and a background check is required to participate in the program. Volunteers can either call or do in-person visits the older adult upon approval.
