Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse population of Queens through a broad network of programs and services for Children and Youth, Adults and Families, and Older Adults. Queens Community House in collaboration with the Department of Education and 21st Century Grants, will provide School Day and After School services at International High School for Health Sciences. The QCH staff will be comprised of the Community School Director and a Youth Counselor and in collaboration with IHSHS staff. In partnership with the school, QCH will ensure that students’ academic progress and grade promotion goals are being met. DOE Certified teachers will teach Extended Learning Time classes meeting credit bearing standards.Responsibilities: Create and teach engaging lesson plans for students Submit lesson plans to Community School Director in timely mannerMaintain attendance recordsIdentify students who have not been attending the club and encourage them to participateMeet with Community School Director to discuss areas of concerns and difficulties when working with youthQualifications: Experience working with youth aged 14-18High School Diploma plus one year of experience teaching or education in related fieldContingent on DOE PETS clearanceSolution orientedGreat interpersonal and collaboration skillsAdditional Details: This position is available immediately. Queens Community House offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. Staff can also take advantage of an array of professional development opportunities, including trainings and learning bits. Prospective employees are required to obtain the clearances required by the NYC DOE and QCH before working with youth. This is a part-time, temporary position throughout the school year ( 5 hours a week) from December 2025 to June 2026.
