#### Position Description
Job Summary
The Problem-Solving Court (PSC) Case Manager is a full-time (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm), contractual position that works closely with the PSC Coordinator, Court Administrator, and serves at the pleasure of the Administrative Judge.The PSC program is designed to assist individuals who are seeking to overcome substance use disorders and related criminal offenses.The goal of the PSC is to reduce drug dependency through a structured treatment program of five phases, court review and frequent monitoring.With the assistance of the PSC team, participants are held accountable, while reducing substance use and overdoses, therefore, strengthening the safety of our community.The PSC Case Manager must abide by all policies and procedures of both the Maryland Judiciary and the Administrative Office of the Courts and attend any required training.
Essential Functions
oWork closely with the PSC Coordinator, Court Administrator and Administrative Judge.
oEffectively manage an active caseload of participants.
oAssist in identifying services and assistance for participants with substance use and/or mental health disorders.
oScheduling in-person contacts with participants and preparing progress reports.
oConduct intake interviews and coordinate with treatment providers.
oRecognizing the needs and implementing community resources to the participants overall success.
oReview reports to identify possible referrals into the program.
oPrepare and maintain accurate reports and attends pre-court meetings and court hearings.
oFacilitate drug screening.
oPerforms other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES
Knowledge of problem-solving court program terminology, and standards relating to substance abuse.
Ability to communicate professionally with participants.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Travel to the local detention center to conduct interviews with non-violent defendants.
Exercise the skills of being a team player.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possession of a Class C Maryland Motor Vehicle Operators License (or the equivalent from another issuing State) or the ability to obtain such a license within thirty (30) days of appointment to position.
EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements:
oAssociate degree or Certificate relating to addiction
oStrong organizational skills
oKnowledge of treatment providers and community resources that support addictive recovery and behavioral disorders
Preferred Qualifications
oExperience with Problem Solving Courts
oKnowledge of general court system operations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Regularly walk, stand or stoop; Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 30 lbs.; and work for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed in a courtroom and/or office like setting.
