Position Summary:
Quality Assurance/Quality Control assists in overseeing aspects of food safety and quality control within the Quapaw Food Services Authority production rooms. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with quality standards, HACCP protocols, and sanitation standards. They will be responsible for performing physical and visual inspections of product and plant systems, documenting and calculating results accurately, taking corrective action when necessary (alert appropriate personnel to adjust processes, identify, segregate, & isolate non-conforming product) and report results to management.
A successful candidate is a highly motivated, independent critical thinker with strong communication and leadership skills. They will implement food safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement in all quality control processes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Inspect outbound packaging and boxes to ensure labeling requirements are met
- Oversee pre-operational and operational forms to maintain compliance with SSOP and HACCP plans
- Coordinate with production to ensure testing is conducted promptly and efficiently
- Implement and monitor employee sanitation procedures and records
- Maintain a professional relationship with USDA officials
- Attend weekly meetings with IPP officials
- Communicate food safety and/or quality issues with the FSQA Manager/HACCP Coordinator promptly
- Provide input on corrective and preventative measures related to Noncompliance Records (NRs)
- Conduct regular quality checks on products to ensure standards are met
- Participate in staff and department meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Non-essential Job Functions:
- Assist with employee training and development
- Support continuous improvement projects to enhance food safety programs
- This position is designated to be the backup SQF Practitioner

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Passionate about food safety and quality
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Ability to delegate, negotiate, and manage conflict effectively
- Expertise in humane animal handling, slaughter, processing, packaging, and ready-to-eat (RTE) food production
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter with proactive tendencies
- Commitment to fostering a service excellence culture
- Maintain a current driver’s license in good standing and qualify under the tribe's insurance policy.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a food production environment
- HACCP Certified or ability to obtain certification
- Experience in food production/processing, including RTE environments
- Ability to obtain SQF certification
Physical Abilities:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods and work on a computer
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed both in an office setting and within food production areas.
- Exposure to varying environmental conditions, including cold storage areas.
