Controls Engineer - Building Automation

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of Building Automation Systems (BAS). This role is well-suited for a technically strong professional who enjoys working across all phases of a project, from initial system design to client handoff. You will play a key role in ensuring systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in alignment with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
System Design and Engineering
- Design BAS solutions
- Develop control drawings, system architecture, and sequences of operation
- Create points lists and equipment schedules
- Review mechanical and electrical documentation to ensure accurate system integration
- Select appropriate field devices, controllers, and network components
Programming and System Development
- Program controllers
- Build system logic, graphics, alarms, and user interfaces
- Utilize EC-GFX tools and Niagara N4 for system configuration and integration
- Configure communication protocols such as BACnet/IP, Modbus, and EC-Net
Project Support and Coordination
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, and end users
- Maintain organized documentation and version control for all system files
- Provide support during system turnover, including client training
Work Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and weekends as required
Compensation: $35 - $55 per hour, depending on experience

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in BAS or HVAC controls engineering
- Experience with DDC, PLC, or similar Ladder-Logic programming
- Familiarity with Niagara N4 and EC-Net environments
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems (e.g., VAV, AHU, chiller, boiler, VRF systems)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of BACnet and Modbus communication protocols
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience with design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Visio
Preferred Qualifications
- Distech Controls and/or Niagara certifications
- Understanding of network infrastructure (IP addressing, switches, VLANs)
- Familiarity with energy optimization strategies and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE)
- Experience integrating third-party systems into BAS environments
