We are seeking a qualified Business Analyst / Technical Analyst to support the migration of Microsoft Access databases to a new, standalone database platform. This role will partner with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users to gather requirements, analyze current processes and data structures, and create clear, accurate documentation that supports a successful transition.
The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams by documenting business and technical requirements, data mappings, migration processes, user procedures, and validation steps. This individual will ensure all documentation is consistent, technically accurate, easy to understand, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements related to the Microsoft Access database migration.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with business users, subject matter experts, developers, database administrators, and IT support teams.
- Document current-state and future-state processes, workflows, data structures, field mappings, migration logic, and data-integrity checks.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including process guides, functional requirements, user stories, architecture diagrams, checklists, user guides, and troubleshooting materials.
- Document migration activities, including step-by-step procedures, validation requirements, and post-migration support processes.
- Collaborate with technical teams to validate requirements, confirm data mappings, and ensure documentation accurately reflects the implemented solution.
- Maintain project documentation in a centralized repository, ensuring materials remain current, organized, and accessible.
- Review, proofread, and edit documentation for clarity, consistency, usability, and technical accuracy.
- Monitor migration outcomes, collect user feedback, and update documentation as needed.
- Adapt to changing project priorities, departmental needs, and evolving solution requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Analyst, Technical Writer, or similar role supporting technology projects.
- Strong requirements-gathering and documentation skills, including experience creating formal requirement specifications, structured user stories, process flows, and architecture diagrams.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and collaborate with technical and non-technical subject matter experts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access databases and database migration concepts.
- Ability to analyze data structures, field mappings, migration scripts, and data-validation processes.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when documenting technical procedures and data-integrity controls.
- Excellent communication, organization, analytical, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a changing environment and adjust to evolving business needs.
Additional Requirements
The selected candidate must successfully complete a comprehensive background check within 60 days prior to the start date and sign applicable confidentiality and acceptable-use agreements before onboarding.
