Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design and execution of civil engineering scope for EPC power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage system (BESS), substation, transmission, and industrial infrastructure projects. This role serves as a senior technical leader responsible for delivering complex civil engineering solutions, mentoring engineering staff, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams throughout all phases of project execution.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in site development, grading, drainage, foundations, utility infrastructure, and heavy industrial facilities. This individual will provide technical leadership, support business development initiatives, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that meet client, regulatory, and company requirements.
Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Design
- Lead civil engineering design and analysis activities for power generation, renewable energy, BESS, substation, transmission, and industrial infrastructure projects.
- Develop conceptual studies, feasibility assessments, preliminary engineering packages, and detailed design deliverables.
- Lead the design and review of:
- Site grading plans
- Stormwater management systems
- Drainage and conveyance systems
- Erosion and sediment control plans
- Access roads and site development layouts
- Underground utility systems
- Equipment foundations
- Retaining walls and site structures
- Industrial and energy facility infrastructure
- Perform and review advanced engineering calculations related to:
- Hydrology and hydraulics
- Stormwater runoff and detention
- Earthwork and grading
- Foundation loading and settlement
- Utility infrastructure systems
- Site stabilization and erosion control
- Develop and review engineering reports, design basis documents, and technical specifications.
Project Execution
- Lead civil engineering scope through all phases of project execution, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement support, construction, and commissioning.
- Manage discipline deliverables, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, process, environmental, and project management teams to ensure integrated project execution.
- Participate in project planning, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and design reviews.
- Identify technical risks and develop practical engineering solutions to support project objectives.
- Support project estimating, scope development, and proposal activities.
Construction & Field Support
- Provide senior-level engineering support during construction, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Conduct site investigations, field assessments, and constructability evaluations.
- Review contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and field design modifications.
- Support contractor coordination and resolution of field issues.
- Participate in site visits to verify design implementation and address construction challenges.
Permitting & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead coordination with environmental consultants, permitting agencies, and clients.
- Support environmental permitting efforts and regulatory approvals.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and client-specific requirements.
- Review and approve stormwater management plans, erosion control measures, and permitting documentation.
- Support development of technical reports and permit applications.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Serve as a technical mentor for Civil Engineers, Designers, and Engineering Interns.
- Review engineering work products for technical accuracy, quality, constructability, and compliance.
- Support development and implementation of civil engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in recruiting, training, and professional development initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned across projects and engineering teams.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Significant experience supporting EPC power generation, renewable energy, transmission, substation, utility, or industrial infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience leading civil engineering scope on multidisciplinary projects.
