Purpose of Position 

The Learning & Development Specialist – Systems & Content Creator is responsible for administering and optimizing the Learning Management System (LMS), maintaining training records and compliance data, and designing engaging learning content to support organizational training initiatives. This role ensures training materials remain current, accessible, and aligned with operational, quality, and business requirements. The Specialist works closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Human Resources, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop effective learning solutions that enhance employee performance and ensure compliance with organizational standards. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Learning Management System (LMS) Administration: 

  • Administer and maintain the LMS, ensuring user accounts, learning assignments, curricula, and reporting functions are accurate and up to date. 

  • Upload, assign, and manage training materials, assessments, certifications, and learning paths within the LMS. 

  • Monitor training completion, compliance status, overdue training, and certification expirations. 

  • Troubleshoot LMS issues and provide support to employees, supervisors, and managers. 

  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency of training records. 

  • Generate recurring and ad hoc reports to support leadership decision-making and compliance requirements. 

Content Development and Management: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, and blended learning content. 

  • Create engaging training materials, including presentations, workbooks, videos, job aids, guides, assessments, and digital learning resources. 

  • Ensure all learning content aligns with company standards, quality requirements, and branding guidelines. 

  • Review and update training materials to reflect process, operational, and regulatory changes. 

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to improve learner engagement and knowledge retention. 

Training Documentation and Compliance: 

  • Maintain training matrices, competency records, certification tracking, and document control requirements. 

  • Ensure training documentation complies with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and applicable standards. 

  • Support internal and external audits by providing training records and compliance reports. 

  • Monitor and report training effectiveness metrics and learning outcomes. 

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement: 

  • Partner with department leaders and Subject Matter Experts to identify training needs and develop learning solutions. 

  • Participate in projects involving training systems, process improvements, and workforce development initiatives. 

  • Analyze LMS and training data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. 

  • Recommend enhancements to learning technology, reporting capabilities, and content development processes. 

  • Support implementation of new learning technologies and digital learning solutions. 

Reporting and Analytics: 

  • Develop dashboards and reports to measure training participation, completion rates, compliance status, and learning effectiveness. 

  • Provide training metrics and insights to leadership teams. 

  • Support workforce planning and competency tracking through data analysis and reporting. 

Other Duties: 

  • Stay informed on learning technologies, instructional design trends, and industry best practices. 

  • Provide support for special projects and initiatives as assigned. 

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. 

 

Minimum Requirements 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Learning & Development, Education, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Learning & Development, Training Administration, LMS Management, or a related role. 

  • Experience creating training materials and learning content. 

  • Experience working with training records, reporting, or compliance programs preferred. 

  • Manufacturing or technical environment experience preferred. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Experience administering Learning Management Systems. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and SharePoint. 

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies. 

  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, Camtasia, Canva, or similar platforms preferred. 

  • Strong reporting and data analysis skills.
