Forklift

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Perform production support functions. Meet the daily production support requirements deadline by efficiently moving materials, assist with sorting recyclables while maintaining pick up deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Responsible for reading, understanding and following work instructions pertaining to the tasks of moving materials.

·       Perform in a cross-functional environment, coordinating with other departments such Quality, Warehouse, and Materials.

·       Safely operate forklift to load and unload materials.

·       Move materials to appropriate locations.

·       Ensure proper handling and storage of recyclable materials.

·       Assist with bailing materials for recycling processing.

·       Ensure accurate inventory management.

·       Communicate professionally via email with Program Manager, Department Manager, Supervisor and customer contacts regarding the status of parts and shipments.

·       Actively seek ways to improve processes.

·       Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

·       Other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

·       Prior experience in a warehouse or shipping environment.

·       Forklift driver is required.

·       Good email communication skills.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

·          High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

 OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

·       Computer literate in a Windows Environment; Outlook, Excel.

·       Basic math skills.

·       Accurate counting skills.

·       Legible handwriting.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·       Strong interpersonal skills.

·       Detail oriented.

·       Good organizational skills.

·       Ability to work as part of a team.

·       Must be self-motivated and possess initiative.

·       Flexible; able to change direction with short notice.

·       Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

·       Able to complete projects under tight deadlines.

·       Able to perform repetitive motion with hands and arms.

·       Qualified to become certified on a forklift.

·       Able to quickly resolve or escalate problems that arise.

·       Effective communicator in the English language, both orally and written, as the position requires email communication with customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

·       Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

·       Able to stand, stoop and bend.

·       Ability to walk and stand on cement floors for long periods.

·       Able to operate a pallet jack.

·       Able to work in an environment that is not climate controlled.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

·       Hectic, fast paced.

·       Warehouse environment.
