Quandary Consultants LLC is looking for an Environmental Field Technician to join our growing team of diverse professionals for seasonal work between May 1, 2026, through August 31, 2026, with potential to extend employment permanently. This position will be part of Quandary Consultants’ Natural Resources Team. The position will perform natural resource fieldwork and assist in report writing. This includes field surveys and assessments for wildlife, native/non-native vegetation, wetlands, and surface waters. In addition, the position will perform noxious weed and wildlife management mapping and treatment. The position is primarily composed of local and overnight fieldwork and a mix of report writing. Overnight fieldwork occurs on average one or more times a month, depending on project schedules. The ideal candidate will have experience in a variety of disciplines, and a willingness to learn new skills and disciplines.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Independently and collaboratively conduct natural resources and environmental fieldwork in remote and urban locations, including active construction and sites with active operations;
  • Conduct desktop assessments and field surveys for wildlife and vegetation, and assess potential wetlands and other Waters of the U.S. and Waters of the State;
  • Collect detailed, accurate scientific field data for multiple wildlife species, vegetation, habitats (migratory birds, eagle nests and roosts, burrowing owls, prairie dogs, etc.), and environmental resources (e.g. groundwater, surface water, soils, wetlands);
  • Collect and manage data using ESRI software, Arc GIS Field Maps (Survey 123), Google Earth, or similar platforms during field work.
  • Perform noxious weed and wildlife management surveys and treatments;
  • Draft project specific client deliverables including memos, reports, and/or maps for internal review following Quandary templates;
  • Perform environmental sampling and inspections for various environmental programs;
  • Actively participate in safety programs and support a safe work culture;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Other duties supporting Quandary programs:

  • Collect soil and groundwater samples according to established protocol and regulations;
  • Oversee the installation of groundwater monitoring wells;
  • Collect baseline water quality samples, and create and submit agency filings;
  • Perform environmental sampling and inspections for various environmental programs;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Key Capabilities/Skills:

  • Ability to travel to remote locations alone with minimal supervision;
  • Teachable, fast learning, and willing to learn new skillsets;
  • Willing to attend internal and external environmental training courses, as assigned;
  • Demonstrated scientific and/or technical writing experience;
  • Exhibit strong field identification skills and knowledge of MBTA, raptor, and eagle biology;
  • Experienced plant identification – native, wetland, and noxious weed species;
  • Possess and apply strong problem-solving skills;
  • Enjoy working with a diverse team;
  • Keen attention to detail;
  • Exhibit a positive attitude on a daily basis;
  • Possess and maintain valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biological or environmental science, geology, environmental engineering, or related field;
  • 1-3 years of environmental/consulting experience;
  • Maintain or obtain Qualified Supervisor certifications for Colorado Department of Agriculture and other specific QS disciplines as required (Rangeland Pest Management, Outdoor Vert Control, etc.);
  • Possess working knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., ESA, NEPA, CWA, MBTA, BGEPA);


Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Fieldwork provides the opportunity to work in a variety of field conditions from very cold to very hot. Some days may require long hours driving to project sites. Some project sites may require staff to hike several miles to get to project locations with equipment and may be in rugged terrain and potentially occur in adverse weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs.;
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time;
  • Repetitive tasks that are physically demanding.


Expected Salary: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour, DOE

Job Type: Seasonal Full-time Hourly between May 1, 2026 through August 31, 2026

Schedule: Monday – Friday, minimum 40 hours a week, schedule dictated by client needs

Work Location: Denver, CO: Reliably commute to Denver office daily
