What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bandsaw Cutting Specialist/CNC Machine Operator position at Quality Testing, Inc.?
Material testing laboratory is seeking a Bandsaw/CNC Machine Operator capable of functioning in a multi-faceted capacity. Due to the size of the organization, this position requires the candidate perform various tasks within multiple roles. This means you will be performing additional tasks such as stamping samples for identification, sanding/grinding/de-burring parts, operating a band saw, general housekeeping, etc. as needed.
Qualified applicants shall be able to read a ruler, perform simple math conversions, possess a good mechanical aptitude, be proficient with standard measurement/inspection instruments including micrometers, calipers and indicators. A simple math & aptitude test will be conducted to determine understanding of decimals, fractions, and ability to ready a ruler.
Candidates shall be drug free, well groomed, have exceptional organizational skills, willing to learn, be available for after hour/overtime work, possess good communication skills, and a positive attitude. Standard work hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday thru Friday. Will be expected to work overtime on as-needed basis.
Duties:
- Operate band saws, manual mill, Oxy-fuel torch, Plasma cutter, etc.
- Run multiple machines at a time
- Cut & prepare test samples from various steel products
- Operate in a safe and responsible manner
- Stencil/stamp samples
- Operate hand side grinders/sanders
- De-burr samples
- Setup HAAS CNC Mills & Lathe & MAZAK CNC Lathe
- Assign appropriate cutting speed and feeds for turning, drilling and milling tools for carbon steels, stainless steels and alloys
- Inspect parts and make tool offset adjustments to meet drawing tolerance requirements
- Perform daily cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Mathematically and mechanically inclined
- Attention to detail a must
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Capable of communicating to peers and supervisors in a professional manner
- Ability to use inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
- HAAS & MAZAK awareness
- G-code & M-code awareness
- Clean background & drug free
Environment: The manufacturing facility is climate controlled. A successful candidate must possess the ability to keep his workstation and area clean and orderly.

Projected Total Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
