We are seeking a Junior Cost Estimator to join our growing team within our contract manufacturing division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing sales representatives with accurate and timely estimates based on project details provided within quote request packages. This position analyzes renderings, bills of materials, engineering blueprints, and production samples to calculate production costs using historical data and current market pricing.

What our Junior Cost Estimator will be accountable for at QPSI?
- Provide accurate and timely cost estimates using approved estimating software and historical pricing data.
- Partner closely with a Senior Estimator to learn and apply estimating models, methodologies, and best practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality to ensure all disciplines contribute to the estimating process.
- Communicate proactively with site management and sales on potential risks or challenges associated with proposed applications or projects.
- Attend production meetings to gain hands-on understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost drivers.
- Support material selection and specification in partnership with Purchasing, including vendor communication for competitive quotations.
- Assist in developing weekly site review data, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions for cost variances.
- Compile and submit reports on estimate timeliness, accuracy, and profitability performance as directed by management or senior estimators.
What Qualified Candidates for the Junior Cost Estimator Role Must Have to Be Successful at QPSI?
- High school diploma required; associate degree or technical coursework in manufacturing, engineering, or business preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to production, data reporting, or estimating processes.
- At least 1 year of experience in production line supervision or cost reporting preferred.
- Experience in contract manufacturing or contract packaging environments preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret drawings, renderings, and bills of materials.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- ·Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio); experience with estimating or ERP software a plus.
