Duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date
- Prepare and process journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant standards
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, bill payments, and collections
- Conduct bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to verify financial accuracy
- Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
- Support budgeting processes by tracking expenses and preparing financial reports for management review
- Maintain organized records of all financial transactions, supporting documentation, and audit-ready files
Requirements
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; familiarity with GAAP is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis
- Knowledge of governmental or non-profit accounting practices is a plus
- Ability to perform account reconciliation tasks accurately and efficiently
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills; proficiency in 10-key typing is preferred
- Basic knowledge of financial concepts such as budgeting, financial report writing, and general ledger accounting
- Experience with bank reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable management, and payroll processing
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external vendors
- Ability to adapt quickly to new software tools and maintain high standards of data integrity
