What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wet Paint Supervisor position at Quality Electrical Systems?
The Wet Coating Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and executing daily wet coating booth operations while ensuring compliance with internal procedures, customer specifications, and industry standards (SSPC, AMPP, ASTM). This role serves as the primary point of contact for job routing, surface preparation, coating application, environmental controls, and final quality inspections.

Shift: 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities:
Supervisor Work Execution
- Coordinate workflow with Industrial Coating Technicians to meet production deadlines
- Validate job documentation against production and coating requirements
- Ensure proper implementation of surface preparation per SSPCSP standards and TDS
- Lead daily startofshift meetings to review objectives and priorities
- Conduct inspections and collect data on jobs in progress

Technical Oversight:
- Enforce TDS specifications including sweatin time, mix ratios, and recoat windows
- Ensure compliance with WFT/DFT requirements
- Conduct and document personnel audits for procedural compliance
- Assist material handlers with consumable restocking

Quality Control Support:
- Perform quality inspections using DeFelsko instruments to document surface profile, environmental conditions, and dry film thickness
- Identify, document, and quarantine nonconforming parts
- Coordinate onthejob training (OJT) for processes
- Request QA inspections and signoffs through L2L
- Lead minor rework efforts per SSPCPA1 repair guidelines

Training & Competency:
- Support onboarding and crosstraining of team members
- Maintain working knowledge of SSPCPA1, PA2, ASTM D4417, and related standards

Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce PPE compliance and safe booth practices
- Coordinate OJTs for equipment operation (forklift, man lift, crane) and certification scheduling
- Oversee booth cleaning and contamination control prior to coating
- Ensure housekeeping standards are met before the end of each shift

Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience in an industrial coating or manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong understanding of wet coating processes, surface preparation, and coating standards
- Experience with inspection tools and quality documentation
- Ability to lead teams, manage workflow, and enforce safety and quality requirements
