Job Title: Quality Manager (Aerospace)
Location: Willoughby, Ohio
Reports to: President & Vice President
Position Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure all aerospace products and manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AS9100 and other relevant aerospace and defense standards and will drive a culture of continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the quality control department to ensure that all products meet stringent quality standards and Customer specifications.
- Manage and maintain the company's AS9100-certified QMS, ensuring ongoing compliance and system integrity, including planning and executing internal audits to verify adherence to quality standards.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality issues and manage resolution processes, external audits (e.g., customer, regulatory, AS9100) and manage all follow-up actions.
- Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to embed quality into manufacturing processes and product development, troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Analyze production data and quality trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and optimize performance.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities for non-conformances
- Develop and maintain relationships with Customers Quality and Engineering teams.
- Lead the Quality Assurance team, including Quality Technicians, by providing training and development opportunities to encourage continuous improvement and execution of performance standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s Quality Management System in alignment with AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, and customer-specific requirements.
- Must do daily in process inspections, review incoming materials and certifications, final product release, and first article / first piece inspections ensuring all products meet defined quality standards.
- Interpret and enforce technical drawings and specifications across all inspection processes.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection and measurement equipment is maintained.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Quality lab is organized, maintained and well kept.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
· U.S. citizenship
· Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible quality management experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years of experience in a managerial roe.
· Proven experience implementing and maintaining a QMS compliant with AS9100.
· Demonstrated experience in leading audit processes (internal, external, and customer).
Skills and Competencies
· In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards.
· Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and metrology.
· Proficiency in quality tools such as PFMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, PPAP’s.
· Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
· Proficient with MS Office and Quality Management software.
- Ability and eagerness to learn new skills and adjust to increased workloads displaying a helpful work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with all types of gaging equipment. CMM programming is preferred.
