POSITION SUMMARY:

Quality Appliance is looking for a hands-on, mechanically inclined person to manage our used appliance, clearance, scratch-and-dent, and appliance parts operation.

This position will be responsible for testing used appliances, completing basic repairs, determining whether units should be repaired, sold, parted out, or scrapped, and keeping our used parts inventory organized.

This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with their hands, troubleshooting equipment, taking things apart, and staying organized.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Test used refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers, microwaves and other appliances
• Diagnose basic appliance problems
• Complete minor repairs and replace common parts
• Clean and prepare used appliances for resale
• Identify appliances that are not worth repairing
• Disassemble scrap appliances and recover valuable reusable parts
• Photograph, label, barcode and organize recovered parts
• Work with our remote inventory/listing team to ensure parts are properly cataloged
• Pull and package parts when they sell
• Keep parts organized in clearly numbered boxes and storage locations
• Reorganize existing parts inventory into clean, labeled storage boxes
• Maintain an orderly used-appliance and parts area
• Evaluate clearance, scratch-and-dent, damaged and returned appliances
• Help move slow or obsolete inventory through repair, resale, parts recovery or scrap
• Load/move appliances as needed

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Mechanically inclined and comfortable using hand and power tools
• Appliance repair experience is helpful but NOT required
• Automotive, HVAC, maintenance, small-engine, electrical or other mechanical experience is a plus
• Basic electrical troubleshooting/multimeter experience is a plus
• Able to learn appliance testing and repair procedures
• Organized and able to follow inventory procedures
• Comfortable using a phone/tablet to scan barcodes and update inventory
• Able to work independently and stay productive without constant supervision
• Able to safely move and handle appliances and parts
• Dependable and detail-oriented

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

The goal of this position is simple: turn excess and damaged inventory into cash while keeping our warehouse organized.

A successful person in this role will:

• Reduce our backlog of untested used appliances
• Get good appliances tested and ready for sale quickly
• Identify bad units and scrap them instead of allowing them to take up warehouse space
• Recover valuable parts from scrap appliances
• Keep parts accurately inventoried and easy to find
• Get sold parts pulled and shipped promptly
• Help reduce the amount of warehouse space required for used inventory

SCHEDULE:

Full-time preferred.

PAY:

Competitive hourly pay based on mechanical/appliance repair experience.
