Sander/Dry Abrasive/Grit

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Qualicoat Inc. is seeking a candidate that has a minimum of 1 year experience as a Dry Abrasive/Sand/Grit Blaster. The Blaster abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt to impart a specified finish on the surface using abrasive blasting equipment per work instructions. Must have working knowledge of dry grit blasting tools and operations of dry grit blast equipment and booths.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide the Coatings Department and customers with a continuous flow of quality parts that are ready to be finished without any need for further preparation, cleaning or wiping.
• Follow detailed written and verbal instruction according to quality and ISO 9000 standards.
• Improve quality through adherence to policies and procedures for grit blasting operations and through training that improves knowledge, ability and understanding
• Improve efficiency by communicating with the production team and Operations Manager
• Organize the work area to eliminate wasted efforts and motions that allow work to be performed safely, efficiently and with the highest quality.
• Run samples as required for the Quality Assurance Department
• Exercise caution in the safe use and handling of chemicals utilizing the proper safety equipment and all safety procedures as required.
• Maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with job travelers and Epicor system.
• Report any needed repairs, safety hazards, problems or suggested improvements.
• Must be effective in communicating clearly and concisely any questions regarding policies, procedures or instructions.
• Required to document and maintain all work performed regarding quality, quantity and time spent on each job.

EDUCATIONAL AND POSITION EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED
• Sanding experience is required
• Fiberglass experience is preferred
• Autobody experience is preferred
• Must have a visual acuity for fine detail.
• Demonstrated effective communication, writing and math skills
• Strong listening skills
• Effectively work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work with a team
• Blueprint reading skills are preferred

PHYICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Dry Abrasive (Grit) blaster must be able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting and carrying techniques and move parts over 50 pounds using cranes, slings, carts or other material handling devices.

This person must be able to endure long periods of standing on concrete floors and be able to tolerate warm, humid conditions.

Must be able to pass physical, drug screen, and background test.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
