What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist position at Quabbin Regional School District?
The Quabbin Regional School District is seeking two (2) Occupational Therapists for the 26/27 school year. The Occupational Therapists will be responsible for carrying out an individualized program of occupational therapy including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a student’s progress toward achieving functional goals. The Occupational Therapist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other professionals and ancillary staff.
Essential Functions
1.Design the occupational therapy program so that it is consistent with the educational
philosophy and goals of the district.
2.Continue professional growth through educational meetings and exchanging ideas with district staff.
3.Work in coordination with teachers and ancillary personnel in planning and developing the program.
4.Identify strengths and weaknesses of referred students.
5.Prepare, implement and evaluate the annual educational plan for each student based on individually assessed needs and in accordance with district procedures.
6.Prepare, implement and assess a plan of care for each student in accordance with district policies.
7.Use appropriate assessment instruments pertinent to areas of therapy.
8.Support projects and programs designed to serve students
9.Provide specialized occupational therapy techniques through individual and/or group
sessions designed to meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of the students.
Education & Experience
1.Master’s degree.
2.Licensed as an occupational therapist in Massachusetts
3.At least one year of experience as a Certified OT Assistant (COTA) or OT
4.Current license from the state Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
Required Skills/Abilities
1.Knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.
2.Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations.
Physical Requirements
1.Duties require extensive standing and walking.
2.Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
3.Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
