This position in Marshfield, MO will play an important role in supporting financial accuracy, operational efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Assistant Controller Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, communicating, and analyzing financial plans, forecasts, and performance models for business units
- Monitor working capital, inventory levels, and asset utilization to support financial and operational objectives
- Prepare financial analyses to support capital project evaluations, strategic initiatives, and business case development
- Analyze variances, trends, and operational KPIs to provide actionable insights to department leaders
- Implement, monitor, and reinforce financial policies and procedures to support corporate compliance
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies and supporting data-driven decision-making
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and revenue recognition processes
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of budget, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Maintain and enforce strong internal controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Support internal and external audit processes by preparing schedules and documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
- Assist in improving accounting processes through technology upgrades, ERP enhancements, and system automation
- Support treasury-related activities, including cash management, banking functions, and coordination with the Credit function
- Supervise assigned Accounting team members, providing guidance, feedback, coaching, and professional development support
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Finance organization
- Partner with Operations, Sales, Engineering, HR, and other departments to align financial objectives with broader business initiatives
- Collaborate with IT and data analytics resources to improve financial reporting, dashboards, and data accessibility
- Spend time in manufacturing and operational areas to understand processes, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure financial practices align with day-to-day operations
- Support safety and security procedures in both office and operational environments
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of finance and accounting staff
Requirements for Assistant Controller:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA certification preferred
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance requirements
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments and support operational objectives
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively in both office and operational/manufacturing environments
- Some travel may be required
