Director of Compliance & Delivery

Qnetic
Sacramento, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 5/14/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/11/2026
Qnetic was founded with the mission to enable the transition to clean, sustainable energy. To achieve it, we are developing a high-performance energy storage system for the electric grid, based on new flywheel technology. It delivers ‘energy shifting’ at a lower cost than anything we know about. Compared to lithium-ion batteries, Qnetic has 3x the lifetime, 2x the discharge duration, 0.5x the cost and 0x the degradation.

We’re building something fundamentally different — and we’re looking for people who are driven to solve hard challenges, do meaningful work, and make a real impact on the future of energy.

About The Role

Lead the successful commercialization of a FOAK energy storage platform by ensuring the product is certifiable, permittable, deployable, and serviceable across U.S. markets.

This role owns regulatory strategy, certification execution, customer delivery governance, and the development of the field service function. Reduce commercialization risk, enable repeatable deployments, and establish operational discipline as the company transitions from prototype to scaled revenue.

  • Lead engagement with NRTLs and testing laboratories.
  • Define compliance-driven design constraints in partnership with Engineering.
  • Establish documentation control processes for listings, interconnection, and AHJ submissions.
  • Develop scalable U.S. permitting playbooks for multi-jurisdiction deployment.
  • Anticipate and mitigate regulatory risks impacting schedule and revenue milestones.
  • Manage compliance-related schedule dependencies and delivery risk exposure.

Product Compliance

  • Partner with Engineering to ensure system architecture supports certification and permitting objectives.
  • Provide structured input on feature prioritization where compliance or bankability risk exists.
  • Support customer and investor technical diligence related to safety, code compliance, and deployability.
  • Ensure product documentation supports insurer, utility, and financing requirements.

Commercial Deployment

  • Build and lead the Project Management organization.
  • Establish stage-gate commercialization processes from prototype through COD.
  • Optimize site solution to deliver lowest total cost of ownership
  • Oversee FOAK and early commercial installations to ensure safe & on-time delivery.
  • Implement formal project management standards (risk registers, milestone tracking, change control).
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, and EPC partners.
  • Manage compliance-related schedule dependencies and delivery risk exposure.

Field Service Strategy (Scale Phase)

  • Design and implement the field service operating model.
  • Establish commissioning standards and acceptance protocols.
  • Develop service documentation, training programs, and support processes.
  • Build and scale the field service organization as deployment volume increases.
  • Define service KPIs aligned with reliability and customer satisfaction objectives.

Qualifications

  • 10 years in energy infrastructure, power systems, or complex industrial hardware.
  • Direct experience managing UL 9540 and UL 9540A certification pathways.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, IFC, NFPA 855, IEEE 1547, and U.S. permitting environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership of customer-facing infrastructure deployments (MW-scale preferred).
  • Experience building structured project management systems in a scaling organization.
  • Prior experience in early-stage or high-growth hardware startups strongly preferred.
  • Experience building, scaling, and managing diverse teams.

Leadership

  • Cross-functional leadership in a founder-led environment.
  • Ability to establish authority across Engineering, Sales, and Operations.
  • Structured decision-making under schedule and regulatory constraints.
